Can I get Freeview?

First of all, ask yourself a couple of questions:

1) Do you currently get Channel 5?

2) Is it a good, clear picture?

If the answer to both of those questions is “YES”, then you stand a good chance of being able to receive the signals from Freeview.

You may not get all of the signals, in fact there is no guarantee that you will get ANY of the signals, as the coverage is quite patchy in this area, though it is likely to improve over time.

Check your postal area for likely coverage by clicking here, and take a look at our News & Offers page too.

We have Freeview boxes in store from around £40 (Subject to availability)

Why doesn’t my SKY remote control operate my TV any more?

If the batteries have been removed and not replaced within about eight minutes, or you have recently bought a new sky remote control, the code for your TV will have been lost. By following these instructions, it should be possible to re-code your remote:

1)     Find out the model number of your TV – this should be on the back of the set.

2)     On SKY, press the INTERACTIVE button on the remote control

3)     Next press button 5

4)     Scroll across & down to “YOUR SKY REMOTE”

5)     Press SELECT

6)     Highlight the initial letter of your TV brand, e.g. J for JVC

7)     Press SELECT

8)     Scroll to your brand of TV

9)     Press SELECT

10) Move through the screens until you find your model number and note the code(s) (Click HERE for some common codes)

Then:

  1. Point the SKY remote away from your TV
  2. Press the button marked TV
  3. Press the RED and SELECT buttons together until the remote flashes twice
  4. Enter the code for your TV
  5. Press SELECT
  6. Press the button marked SKY
  7. Try operating the volume on the TV. If there was more than one code listed for your TV, you may need to repeat the last 6 steps again until your TV responds correctly.

Will you take away my old Fridge / Cooker / Washing machine if I buy a new one from you?

Unfortunately not. We have paid into a system known as the DTS or Distributor Takeback Scheme, which means we have paid  towards the improvement of council recycling facilities (such as Dean Tip). However, your local council will take such items away for you, for a small charge. We will gladly move your old appliance anywhere on your property for you when installing the new item. Please ask for details in store.

Where in Chipping Norton is CORBETTS?

CORBETTS is on West Street, on the main road diagonally across from the Town Hall.

If entering the town from the Burford or Churchill direction, we are approximately 250 yards beyond the mini roundabout on the main road on the left.

If coming into town from the Banbury direction, come over the two mini roundabouts at the bottom of the hill and follow the main road through the town centre. Where the main road turns right down the hill, bear left and CORBETTS will be found approximately 75 yards from the junction on your right.

Can I buy built-in equipment from CORBETTS?

Yes you can. We don’t keep many built-in appliances in stock or on display because we have no means of showing them properly, but we can obtain virtually any item from most major manufacturers.

Unfortunately, due to the specialist nature of built-in items, we do NOT offer an installation service on them, but can suggest a number of craftsmen that can install your new appliances.
